Detailed Trip Information
Fishing Summary
Campeche Tarpon Club is truly a unique fishery for baby Tarpon.  Ranging in size from 5 to 35 pounds, these Tarpon reside in a multitude of environs - from turtle grass flats, backcountry lagoons, to mangrove-lined shoreline, creeks, and bays.  This amazing habitat is also home to many Snook and Barracuda.
The hallmark of the fishery at Campeche is its gin-clear water.  This enables the fly angler to experience the ultimate visual display in fly fishing... spotting the Tarpon, making the cast, watching the Tarpon track your fly in predatory pursuit, slashing your fly with a vengeance, and the perfect finale - an explosion of water as you jump the Tarpon on the hookset!
Fishing Tackle and Techniques
Campeche Tarpon Club utilizes spacious 18 foot pangas with an extensive front casting deck.  All fishing is conducted out of these stealthy, stable, and comfortable fishing platforms.  The boundary of the fishery is very close to the boat dock and, therefore, only requires a 10 minute boat ride to arrive at nearest fishing area.  However, with over 30 miles of fishable coastline these powerful, fast pangas are able to extend to the far reaches of this amazing fishery. Each panga is equipped with rod holders and padded bench seats for your comfort.
Most anglers prefer to fish 7 to 9 weight rods at Campeche Tarpon Club.  On calm days, a 7 weight provides great sport for these baby Tarpon.  When weather conditions and/or size of fish dictate, 8 to 9 weight rods are the order of the day.  The wonderful part of fly fishing at Campeche Tarpon Club is that most of the fishing is done with floating lines.  The Tarpon cruise or "fin" on flats as shallow as one foot deep!  This shallow water pursuit demands lightweight Tarpon flies.
Finally, the remarkable and challenging aspect of this incredible fishery is its gin-clear water.  This clarity, along with the diversity of environs, gives anglers the opportunity to test the breadth of their angling skills.  This is a more "technical" fishery (compared to Tarpon Cay Lodge) that offers anglers numerous shots at baby Tarpon.  Accurate casts of 50+ feet and lengthy leaders as long as 10+ feet are often required to stealthily offer a fly to the hungry Tarpon.  The excitement of "making the cast", watching a Tarpon waking behind your fly and a top-water "blow-up" finale is a heart-pounding event that will etch angling memories of a lifetime!  FISH ON!
